Burton's Bollards

Burton's Bollards

Back for its second year, Burton’s Bollards returns to a town we love dearly — Burton-on-Trent, or ‘Burton Yarn Trent’ as it’s fondly been called. A place chockablock with creativity and community spirit, positively humming with heart and humour.

This summer, we’re once again turning everyday bollards into something worth smiling at.

Get involved

Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a total beginner, there’s a place for you in the bollard bunch.

Knit or crochet a bollard cover
Think bold, bright and joyful — essentially a big sock for a bollard. We’ll provide sizes and inspiration, you bring the imagination.

Make a Bollard Buddy
Smaller creations are very welcome too — perfect if you fancy something a bit quicker or just want to join in.

Donate yarn
Got wool lurking in cupboards? Give it a second life. Drop donations into the yarn bin at the Brewhouse Arts Centre and our makers will turn it into something brilliant.

Follow @BurtonsBollards on Facebook, share it with your friends, your knitting groups and your neighbours, and help us fill Burton with colour, creativity and a few very well-dressed bollards.

Keep designs family-friendly, make them durable (acrylic yarn works best) and a good fit, and get your finished cover to us by 3rd July 2026 to the Brewhouse Arts Centre.

Our team will install everything in early August, ready for a summer of smiles, selfies and street-level creativity running through to late September.

You don’t have to be an expert. You don’t even have to pick up needles, just be part of it!
