Introducing The Staffy Trail!

Last week at The Big Tourism Conference, Staffordshire’s new visitor mascot was officially unleashed… meet Staffy, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Alongside the reveal came the announcement of The Staffy Trail, launching in 2026 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Staffordshire Day. The trail will see a series of giant Staffy sculptures popping up across the county, each one transformed by artists and schools to celebrate Staffordshire’s creativity, character and communities.

Designed as a family-friendly public art trail, The Staffy Trail will invite people to get out and explore towns and cities across Staffordshire, following their noses from one sculpture to the next while discovering local stories along the way. With so many paw-sibilities for artists, schools and communities, no two Staffys will be the same.

Behind the scenes, things are already moving in the studio. The first Staffy has been sculpted and is now in the next stage of production, before moulds are made and multiple sculptures are created, primed and ready to be handed over to artists and schools later this year.

Developed in collaboration with Staffordshire County Council and partners, the trail forms part of a wider celebration of place, pride and all the things that make Staffordshire… well, Staffordshire.

Working on a project in our home county always carries an extra layer of meaning. Staffordshire is where Making Trails began, and as a proud Staffordshire Ambassador for several years now, being part of a county-wide project like this feels genuinely special. The Staffy Trail isn’t just another commission for us – it’s a celebration of a place we care deeply about, and one we’re incredibly proud to call home.

We’ll be sharing more as the trail takes shape – including artist opportunities, community involvement and progress updates – as we get closer to a county-wide launch in 2026. Sit. Stay. Good boy!
