Today is a big day for Staffordshire.
As part of the 10th anniversary of Staffordshire Day, the Staffy Trail is officially live, and we could not be prouder to finally unleash this project into the wild.
Over the past few months, this trail has been taking shape behind the scenes. There have been sketches and paint splashes, site visits and spreadsheets, early starts, late finishes, problem solving, creative risks, and more coffee than any one team should probably admit to.
And now, it is yours.
From today, families, visitors and proud Staffordshire locals can head out across the county to discover our pack of giant Staffy sculptures, each one celebrating the stories, creativity and character that make Staffordshire such a special place.
At Making Trails, we believe public art should do more than look good. It should start conversations, spark curiosity, and help people see familiar places with fresh eyes. The Staffy Trail has been built around exactly that idea.
Projects like this only happen when a lot of brilliant people pull in the same direction, so we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring this trail to life.
To the organisers, sponsors and the wider team behind Staffordshire Day, thank you for backing this vision and trusting us to help tell Staffordshire’s story in such a bold and playful way.
To the schools, community groups and young contributors who shared their ideas, stories and creativity, thank you for helping shape the heart of this project.
To the locations across the county who have welcomed a giant Staffy into their space, thank you for being part of the adventure. And to our install team, who somehow make moving giant sculptures look normal, thank you for getting every piece safely into place.
And finally, to our artists.
Thank you for your imagination, your talent, your patience, and your trust in the process. You took blank sculptures and turned them into characters, stories and moments of joy. Every brushstroke, every design decision, and every little detail has helped make this trail something truly special.
This trail belongs to all of you.
So if you are heading out this Staffordshire Day, download the app, follow the trail, and come and meet the pack.
Happy Staffordshire Day.
