What’s Happening in the Studio This Week

ree

If you saw our photo yesterday with our army of giant ducks, a two-metre gonk and a hefty pickle pot all sharing the same floor space, you’ll know the studio is bursting with activity right now.

The Ducks

We’re building eight identical ducks for the Ay Up Me Duck Trail in Amber Valley. Once they leave us, each one will be transformed by a different artist, giving the flock its final character. As ever, we design the trail, create the sculptures, coordinate the artists, install everything and evaluate the whole project. The ducks are just one piece of the bigger picture.

The Gonk

Our giant gonk is a new milestone for us. It’s the first sculpture for a hireable trail launching next Christmas, with the very first one appearing at the Burton Canvas of Light Festival this year. Tall, cheerful and completely impossible to ignore.

The Pickle Pot

We’re also working on one of the Branston Pickle Pot sculptures for Branston’s year-long community trail. These pots will be decorated, planted and enjoyed for a full twelve months, becoming part of everyday life in the area.

A Studio Full of Everything

Right now the workshop is quackers (sorry, couldnt help myself!), and Jason has been powering through it all. Filling, sanding, fibreglassing, priming and finishing at a heroic pace, he’s keeping every project on track and looking sharp. It’s the kind of week that shows exactly why we love what we do: big ideas, big builds and a lot of variety.

If you’re a council, BID, charity or brand interested in bringing an art trail to your area, get in touch. We’d love to chat.
